This journeying together takes place on different levels (from local to diocesan, regional,
national and the universal).

The objectives of the Synod give an opportunity to the marginalized to express themselves
and to be heard for the edifications of the people of God.

The multifarious gifts and charisms are used for the common good. This objective compels
us to build a more beautiful and habitable world.

The prejudices and distorted practices shall be rooted out in the light of the Gospel. The
church is a home for everyone where all are respected. Special concern is also given to other
denominations, religious, civil organisations, popular movements etc.

The preparatory document carefully conveys various aspects of this mission for the Synod,
such as theological, biblical, ecological and life situations of the people, in an atmosphere of
prayer.

The Synod carefully deals with Clericalism and Exercise of Authority in the church.

The institutions of the lay ministry of Catechists, Women Lector and Acolyte shall be
shrewdly studied. Religious fundamentalism, intolerance, violence and secularisation try to
remove religion from the people. Thus the church has to face numerous problems such as
divisions, ethnicity, caste, race and other social stratifications.

- Dialogue and community discernment are essential to the church. Journeying together is

considered as a prophetic sign.
- It is certain that church is capable of Communion, fraternity, of participation and
subsidiarity, which means the church stands beside the poor and the least; she lends her
own voice to them.
- We need to let ourselves be educated by the Spirit. Church and Synod are synonymous.

Consultation of the people of God - does not imply that the church democracy is based on
the principle of majority.

- Synodal church is a missionary church, her doors are open.
- The Gospel is addressed to both the educated and the simple.
- God chooses his disciples from all walks of life.

Hence, dear Fathers, Brothers and Sisters, we have a huge, important and delicate task to
contribute to the mother church whose children we are. I wish, all the priests read the article
of Fr. Felix Wilfred on this subject in the Internos. I request all the parish priests and people
in charge of communities to come forward and effectively discuss and work for the growth
and dynamism of the church. Thank you for your kind cooperation.
