Dignity Reiterated:
The Church draws its inspiration from Revelation and resolutely reiterates and confirms the
ontological dignity of the human person.
i) Man is created in the image and likeness of God, redeemed by Jesus Christ.
ii) This is his inalienable dignity transcending cultural changes.
iii) It is a gift hence the dignity is present in an unborn child, an unconscious person, or an older
person in distress.
iv) Jesus being born as human person confirms the dignity of the body and soul.
The Church insists on the dignity of every human person because it is intrinsic, remains in all
circumstances. Other abilities such as reason, consciousness and other talents absent in persons
should never be a cause to disrespect the dignity of a human person.
Dignity and Violations:
The Document presents some grave violations of human dignity.
1) Offences against life are murder, genocide, abortion, euthanasia and wilful suicide.
2) Violations of integrity of human person - mutilation, mental torture, psychological pressure.
3) Other violations - subhuman living conditions, illegal and unjust imprisonments,
deportation, slavery, prostitution, selling of women, children et al.
4) Death penalty too is considered as violation of human dignity.
5) In addition to these violations the document speaks of poverty, war is considered as defeat
of humanity. The Church tells of the untold sufferings of migrants, their risk. The
document decodes human trafficking as tragic dimension and a disgrace to the society.
Marketing of human organs, sexual exploitation of boys and girls are noted as human
crimes.
Abortion is abominable, despicable and deplorable. Surrogacy too is not encouraged and prevented
by the Church as the child is reduced to an object.
The document urges us to have „respect for the dignity of the human person beyond all
circumstances‟.
Month of May is dedicated to Mary who valued human person as gift of God. She respects all the
human beings. Let us strive to imitate her.
God bless you all!
Events
27.03.2024: We had a meeting at TMSSS. The account was submitted and various points were
discussed. We gave a farewell to Fr. John Suresh. Everything went on well. Thanks to Fr. Amalan I.
28-31.03.2024: We had an extraordinary celebration of Triduum at Cathedral. Inspite of the rain,
the event was arranged at the open space. I appreciate all who worked these days untiringly for the
success of the Easter Vigil.
The Friday celebrations and the Way of the Cross, although long and tiring, people participated in
events very well.
The Saturday night vigil functions were very meaningful and edifying. The faithful had a wonderful
celebration. Thanks to Fr. Jeyakumar, Fr. George Antonyraj and the entire team.
