Retirement

He retired in September 1953 and slept in the Lord on 17 December 1955, after a thirty years of
successful episcopal ministry (1923-1953). He was succeeded by Bishop Thomas Fernando.

In the Curia of Rev. Fr.General in Rome, he was known by the endearing name of "il bambino
Bishop Roche" (the baby Bishop Roche).
