Liturgical Guidelines for the holy week( 2021)by TNBC&TNLBC
Dear Fathers,
Greetings of peace and joy from BP Stephen .
Hereby i am sending you the liturgical guidelines of the holy week given by the president of TNBC Tamilnadu. However you are welcome to conduct the liturgy of the holy week according to your discretion. As per the instruction of Most Rev. Dr. Antony Pappusamy, President of TNBC/TNLBC, I am forwarding to you the following information regarding the guidelines for the celebration of the Holy Week liturgy:
1. Each diocesan bishop can decide and send a circular to the people to follow the government norms and guidelines - Wearing the mask, using the sanitizers, discouraging the senior citizens, children and the sick people not to attend the Holy week liturgy, etc.
2. On Maundy Thursday, washing of the feet can be omitted.
3. On Good Friday, people can be asked only to bow before the cross without kissing it or touching it.
4. Easter vigil services can be concluded before 10.00 pm.
5. Each bishop can add any other information pertinent to his territory.

As the second wave of covid 19 pandemic is fast spreading world wide, i request all the dear brother priests above the age of 45 to be vaccinated. It is available in Sacred Heart Hospital,Thoothukudi or else avail the neighbouring vaccination centre.

Kindly follow the instructions given by the TNPC President Most.Rev.Bp.Dr.Antony Paapusamy, concerning liturgy .

Joy and Peace of Christ!
As you know our State Government has imposed new restrictions yesterday to control the spread of the second wave of Covid 19 which will come into effect from 20th April 2021.
As per the new regulations, full lockdown has been imposed on Sundays. Hence, you may kindly advise your people to have the Sunday Mass on Saturday Evening following the SOPs.
On Sundays, wherever it is possible, people can be encouraged to watch the live mass telecast through TV/social Media.
If marriages have been already fixed on Sundays, the concerned people can get permission from the local authorities and they can be conducted accordingly (Generally it may not be allowed).
Except funerals, the celebration of all other sacraments if already fixed on Sundays, can be postponed or can be had on Saturday.
