A Brief History :
Migrant catholics from villages like Kattappadu (Periasamipuram) and Tharuvaikulam got settled north of Arockiapuram. In the beginning most of them were Palmyrah tappers. After they got settled at Saveriarpuram Palmyrah tapping is much reduced and people engage themselves in various occupations and tradings such as fishing, mercantile and real estate. They named the area of their settlement as Saveriarpuram and their spiritual needs were taken care of by the parish priest of Innaciarpuram. The people had built a small Church which was enlarged by Rev. Fr. C. Xavier. When Thalamuthunagar became a separate parish, Saveriarpuram was attached to Thamuthunagar. When Rev. Fr. Camilus was the parish priest of Thalamuthunagar the old Church was demolished and a new spacious Church was built which was blessed on 1st December 1996. Rev. Fr. Joseph Isidore prepared Saveriarpuram to become a parish and he built the presbytery which was blessed on 19th April 2001 by Bishop Peter Fernando. The parish was officially erected on 5th May 2001 and Rev. Fr. Paul Robinston was the first parish priest. In 2010 Rev. Fr. Selva Rayer remodelled the altar and fixed the falls ceiling.
