A Brief History :
According to the Mission Catalogue of 1914, Sethukuvaithan was a substation of Pragasapuram when it was re-organized and made into a new parish in 1909. The Ancient Church at Sethukuvaithan was built by Fr. Joseph Kiranink in 1746 and was dedicated to St. James. The present Church at Sethukuvaithan, dedicated to St. Francis Xavier is called ‘Puthukkoil’ in 1914 Mission Catalogue. Arumuganeri, Seithunganallur, Srivaikundam were once substations of Sethukuvaithan. Rev. Fr. Remigius Leon started the presbytery building on 14th January 2002 which was completed by Rev. Fr. M.J. Irudayaraj and was blessed by Bishop Peter Fernando 29th August 2004.
