A Brief History :
"Kolunthattu" the 111th Parish of the Tuticorin Diocese, was bifurcated from Pothakalanvilai Parish and was established as a New Parish by Most Rev. Bishop Yvon Ambroise on 30.5.2013. The substations 'Valathur' from Pothakalanvilai and 'Sirappur' from Sathankulam were attached to this new Parish.

The New Parish Church in Kolunthattu was built by the first parish priest Rev.Fr. D.Arockiaraj and was blessed on 03.12.2016. He also constructed the presbytery and blessed it on 24.11.2016.

Valathur :
St. Antony's Church was built by Rev.Fr. Xavier Arulraj and was blessed on 28.05.1999. The church altar was renovated by Rev.Fr.D.Arockiaraj and blessed on03.05.2018.

Sirappur :
The old St.Sengole Matha Church was built by Rev.Fr. Augustin on 28.11.1977. The New St.Sengole Matha Church was built by Rev.Fr. M. Irudayaraj and was blessed by Most Rev. Bishop Stephen on 10.08.2022.
