A Brief History :
M. Kottur was one of the substations of Nagalapuram and it was bifurcated and established as a new parish on 30th June 2000 by Most Rev. Bishop Peter Fernando. The same day he also blessed the parish Church which was built by Rev. Fr. Denzil Raja who was the parish priest of Nagalapuram. The Church was dedicated to Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. The Parish of M Kottur included the villages of Mavilpatty, Vemboor, Melakaranthai, Tapathi, Tapathi camp, Muthulapuram and Veerapatti. Rev. Fr. Mark Stephen S.J. was appointed as the first parish priest. He bought three acres of land and built the presbytery which was blessed on 5th June 2001. He also built a Hospital, a community hall and 5 commercial shops next to the presbytery for the financial support of the parish. When Vemboor was created as new parish in May 2003, the villages Melakaranthai and Mavilpatty were attached to Vemboor.

During the tenure of Rev. Fr. Venice Kumar, the Church of St.Antony at Tapathi was declared as a Diocesan Shrine by Bishop Yvon Ambroise on 27th September 2009. During the tenure of Rev. Fr. Sagaya Loudrin, Bell tower was constructed at Amalorpava Matha Parish Church. During the tenure of Rev. Fr. Mariadas Lipton, the old church at Thappathi Sri Lankan Camp was demolished and a new church was built by the local people and from the donations collected. The Church has been dedicated to St. Antony and was blessed by Most Rev. Bishop Yvon Ambroise on 10th November 2018.
