A Brief History :
Sathankulam is an ancient Mission station with more than 40 sub-stations. Chidmbarapuram is one among them which was bifurcated from Sathankulam and announced as a new parish by Most Rev. Bishop Yvon Ambroise on June 22nd  2015 as 114th parish of Tuticorin Diocese. Five sub-stations from Sathankulam have been attached to this new parish. Rev. Fr. Babiston was appointed as the first parish priest.
