There are 26 Pastoral and social commissions functioning in the diocese. In order to co-ordinate all the commissions and in order to train the catechists a centre was formed in 1997 in Tutucorin, which is named as Good News Centre. This Good News Centre was constructed with the monitory help from the diocese of Gieti, Italy. Fr.Venantius Fernando was the founder and the first director of Good News Centre.
This centre is also serving as a catholic information centre. Different training programs are conducted to different prayer groups and Biblical, Liturgical and Catechetical formators. It is a centre also for Ecumenism and Dialogue.

Christian Life Commission
In Tamilnadu Tuticorin diocese is the pioneer for Pastoral Centre. After Tuticorin other dioceses also started to establish Pastoral centres in their respective dioceses. In 1981 Most.Rev.Amalanather, the then Bishop of Tuticorin appointed Rev.Fr.Francis Amalraj as the director for the Christian life commission. From 1981-1983 under the guidance of Rev.Fr.Stephen Gomez, Fr.Francis Amalraj continued his ministry. Catechists were trained and they too were involved in the evangelical ministry. In 1984 distance Bible Education was started by Christian life commission. In 1986 Liturgy commission was also incorporated with this commission. “Fullness in Christ” is the motto of this Christian life commission In 1991 Sunday catechism books were prepared and distributed to the parishes by Christian life commission. In 1993 (VBS) Vacation Bible School syllabus was prepared by christian life commission and was distributed to all the dioceses of Tamilnadu. Audio cassetes were also prepared. In 2003 for administrative purposes Christian life commission started functioning in tuticorin and in southern zone having vallioor as its head quarters. Till then christian life commission office was functioning at Bishop’s House, Tuticorin. After that Christian life commission was attached with Good News Centre. From 2011 co-ordination of all the commissions was entrusted to the director of Good News Centre.
